Heads & Tales Bookstore is a long-awaited dream of Bella & Emma who met in London in 2015 and forged a special friendship over books and regional Victoria.
When Barwon Heads’ much-loved secondhand bookshop closed in 2020 the idea for Heads & Tales was born, and the girls began working away to bring their dream to life.
The bookstore opened in April 2023 and is already at the heart of the Barwon Heads community, with a growing calendar of events and book clubs.
We offer a thoughtfully curated selection of books, catering to all ages, interests and budgets. Our selection includes the hottest new-releases, popular backlist titles and the lesser-known gems we think more readers should discover. We also offer beautiful gift wrapping and cards in-store, making us a one-stop shop for all your gifting needs.

Bella has spent over 6 years as a publicist at Hachette and Hardie Grant, working with many wonderful teams and authors including Danielle Binks, Sami Bayly, Jayne Tuttle and Kate Reid. She will never get over the thrill of seeing a book come to life – from acquisitions, to publicity and now to getting the book into the hands of our lovely customers!
Emma is a lawyer with a book addiction, and loves nothing more than matching the right book with the right person. She lives in Barwon Heads with her husband and 3 little bookworms.
Bella and Emma are supported by a highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic team who love meeting new people and chatting about books.
